Project: 3D Metaverse Design
In this project, the client asked us to design a metaverse world inspired by the game Toontown. Toontown is a multiplayer online game developed by Disney Interactive, released in 2003. In this game, players take on the roles of cartoon characters called “Toons” and work to combat enemies known as Cogs, who aim to drain the fun and color from the world of Toontown. The game became very popular due to its joyful and colorful atmosphere, and after the original version was shut down in 2013, a fan-made version called Toontown Rewritten was created and is still active today. Inspired by the cheerful and colorful world of this game, the client wanted us to create a similar metaverse in 3D.
Project Phases:
- Inspiration from Toontown:
- The client wanted the designed metaverse world to have a similar feel to the Toontown game in terms of atmosphere. Therefore, all designs and models were based on the vibrant, cartoonish style of the game.
- Modeling the Spaces:
- Using Blender software and reference images from the game’s environments, the main spaces for the metaverse world were designed.
- Toonhall: One of the key buildings in this project was the design of a unique space called Toonhall, where all interactions and activities within the metaverse take place centrally.
- Store-like Spaces: In addition to Toonhall, other spaces resembling stores from Toontown were also designed.
- Combining the Spaces into a Unified Environment:
- All the models and environments were placed together to create a space resembling a city square, acting as the heart of the metaverse, where all users can interact with each other.
